A little about me.
I’m not your typical therapist. I’m real and I’m approachable. I don’t believe therapy needs to be stale, sterile, and clinical, all the time in order to be effective. I have a direct and honest, but compassionate approach when working with clients, which begins with curiosity, connection, and compassion to allow you space to feel comfortable to open up. My experience in this field has taught me that the relationship with you is the foundational element to a positive experience in this process.
I have been practicing in the field of social work for 15 years. I attended New School University in New York City for my undergraduate degree in psychology, and the University of Pennsylvania for my master’s in social work. I have worked in wilderness therapy, public schools, in-patient psychiatric hospitals, government positions, and outpatient settings. Much of my early experience centered on working with adolescents and family therapy, however in the last several years I have also found great joy in working individually with adults.
I have recently completed significant training in psychedelic-assisted therapy and am now happy to offer ketamine assisted therapy (KAP) for those interested.
I live in Portland with my wife and two goofy dogs. I’m a very active person and utilize physical activity as a form of my own self care. When I’m not in the office I’m often out exploring the outdoors, lifting heavy weights, eating delicious foods, traveling, or enjoying the amazing bounty of Maine.
My Practice
I am Level 1 trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) theory and utilize this approach in my practice. I have also had training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), solution-focused therapy (SFT), and family therapy models. I often utilize a combination of these approaches in my practice depending on what each individual client needs.
I have recently completed a 9 month- long certification course in psychedelic-assisted therapy through the California Institute for Integral Studies and am now offering Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) to interested and qualified clients. Please visit the KAP section of my website for more information.
